Yoshizawa, who was born on 4 March 1911, was the man who turned colorful paper-craft into an art form with his more than 50,000 designs. He also pioneered the technique of wet-folding.

The modern artist's works were also displayed in the Louvre in France.

Google has a tradition of honoring special days and important people with its innovative Google doodle.

Google's latest doodles have been in honour of Charles Dickens and Italian composer Gioachino Rossini.
