Google has created an infinite mashup of Billie Eilish’s Bad Guy: Check it out
Google Creative Lab and YouTube have compiled all the Bad Guy mashups made by fans from all across the world into a single track called Infinite Bad Guy.
Have you heard Billie Eilish's Bad Guy off lately? Do you like it? If you do, then you are among tens of thousands of fans who have uploaded their own version of the song on YouTube. Responding to the popularity of the song that has received over one billion views on YouTube, Google has created a mashup of Bad Guy's cover songs that goes on...well...forever.
Google Creative Lab and YouTube have compiled all the Bad Guy mashups made by fans from all across the world into a single track called Infinite Bad Guy. YouTube says that this unique AI experiment uses machine learning to bring thousands of covers together, seamlessly aligning them in endless combinations, creating a music video that's different every time you watch it.
To create this video, Google Creative Lab aligned the audio from thousands of videos with different tempos, instruments, keys, and styles. YouTube says that conventional algorithms couldn't do the trick alone, so it turned to machine learning. For videos that deviated from the original track — like acoustic or a cappella versions — the company built a neural network that could predict matches between covers and the original. YouTube says that with this data, YouTube was able to line up all kinds of different covers and switch seamlessly between them.
What's more, YouTube says that two people wouldn't see the same sequence twice ‘from now through the end of the universe.'
To give you some numbers, the mashup includes a total of 15,000 (and counting) Bad Guy covers that will go on for 10.5 million seconds, which translates to 1.46 x 10^100 years of video. If you want to watch the video tune into https://billie.withyoutube.com/.
