Google Maps has a big error and that is annoying Beatles fans. The Beatles created an iconic album cover in 1969, where the singers were crossing the crosswalk on Abbey Road. Over the years, this crosswalk has become iconic for fans and for everyone visiting Britain, this is an iconic place to visit, recreate the album cover, and take photographs. Tourists often rely on Google Maps to get directions and sadly, it is leading them to a wrong zebra crossing.

Reports from the British media now say that Google Maps is sending fans and tourists to a wrong zebra crossing. Hence, for those who have faint idea about the whereabouts of this location, they are found recreating the album cover on a crossing 1Km from the actual spot. Maps is directing people to the crossing near the Abbey Medical Centre. Since Uber drivers also use Google Maps to navigate, they have often been found dropping people at this spot.

Google Maps gets the Beatles crossing wrong

A report from the Independent.ie says that several travellers have been visiting the wrong crosswalk, taking pictures and recreating Album cover at the wrong spot. Leilani May, 16, a Californian tourist travelling around Europe with friends, said, “That's embarrassing, we were taking a picture on a random spot. We were wondering why nobody else was here. It's Google Maps' fault.”

“We are both Beatles fans and wanted the picture so we came here, but Google maps sent us to the wrong place – we're going back tomorrow. It's 10 minutes wasted,” said another couple from Mexico.

Shion Hayasaka, resident of that area in north-west London, said, “I've seen them once or twice. I saw them doing the Beatles walk and that's how I knew it was them. I almost told them and then I thought they are just having a lovely time, I don't want to ruin their day.”

While Google is yet to rectify the mistake on the Maps and issue a statement, a simple workaround for Beatles fans is to search for the following place – The Beatles Crosswalk. This will guide you to the exact location of the iconic zebra crossing.
