Google has announced a bunch of interesting updates to the Google Maps app at the Search On 2022 event on September 28. However, these updates and features will be making their appearance on the Google Maps app in the coming months. Google suggests that the new features are in an effort to build a visual-first Maps experience to make the navigation more natural on the app. Google has announced an interesting feature called “Neighborhood Vibe,” which is designed to give users an instant understanding of a specific neighbourhood in the Maps app only. However, there are a slew of other features that will flaunt your Google Maps app soon. Have a look.

Neighborhood Vibe feature

Vibe check for your neighbourhood? This strange feature is all set to launch on Google Maps soon, which will allow users to have an instant vibe check of any neighbourhood through photos and information from the Google Maps community. It will basically show you trendy places to highlight what's interesting there. The feature will be available for both Android and iOS users.

Google Maps Immersive View

This new feature is designed to help users in order to plan ahead before visiting a new city. The immersive view is a combination of computer vision and AI technology to show the Street view and aerial imagery with important information such as the weather, traffic and expected crowds on a given day and time. You will simply be able to explore by visually soaring over an area.

Live View search features

Google announced it will bring search functionality to Live View that will let you use your camera to find essential places like shops, ATMs and restaurants wherever you go. It will be beneficial for a place which is unfamiliar to you. However, this feature will be rolling out in London, New York, Paris, San Francisco and Tokyo in the coming months first.

Eco-friendly route!

Yes, with Google Map's eco-friendly route feature, it will let drivers see and choose the most fuel-efficient route to their destinations. According to Google, this is a small effort to help extend the reach of the sustainability efforts that eco-routing offers. However, this feature will be available in preview later this year in places where eco-friendly routing is available, such as the US, Canada and parts of Western Europe.
