Covid-19 vaccine registration: Here's a step by step guide on registering for Covid-19 vaccine on cowin.gov.in and the Aarogya Setu app.

Registration for the third phase of Covid-19 vaccination in India starts today. Citizens above the age of 18 will be eligible for Covid-19 vaccination from May 1 onwards. For this age group, the government has made it mandatory to register and book an appointment for the Covid-19 vaccination. Registration can be done from the Umang and Aarogya Setu apps, and the CoWin portal starting today at 4 pm.

There are two Covid-19 vaccines available in India - Covishield and Covaxin. Each citizen will have to take two shots of the Covid-19 vaccine. According to the CoWIN portal, the second dose of Covaxin should be taken between 28 days and 42 days after the first dose, and Covishield between 28 days and 56 days.

How to get an appointment

Open the CoWIN website and click on Register/Sign in Yourself.

Enter your mobile number to get an OTP for verification.

You will be taken to the Covid-19 vaccine registration page.

Choose the Photo ID from the list of options available.

Enter your Photo ID number, and name.

Choose your gender, and enter your year of birth.

Hit register once you're done.

You will now get the option to schedule an appointment.

Select the option to schedule, then enter your pin code and select search.

A list of centres in the pin code will be displayed. You can then select the date and time.

You can also reschedule your appointment later.

Is there any registration charge to be paid?

There's no registration charge.

Can I register for vaccination without an Aadhaar card?

Yes, you can register for Covid-19 vaccination with these IDs- Driving License; PAN card; Passport; Pension Passbook; NPR Smart Card; and Voter ID (EPIC).

Is vaccination free at all vaccination centres?

Vaccination is free only at government centres. 

Can I check the price of the COVID19 vaccine?

Yes, you can check the price of the vaccine from the portal itself.

Can I choose the vaccine?

If there are more than one vaccines available, you can choose from the portal.

If I am Covid-19 positive, when can I get my vaccine shot?

The government has advised a period of four-eight weeks after recovery from Covid-19 to get the vaccination. 

COVID-19 Vaccines for Children and Teens

There are no vaccines available for children and teens at the moment.
