How to transfer music from ipod to Itunes

Get hooked: After your iPod is connected via the USB port to your computer, click on the My Computer icon and look for the iPod drive.

Navigate right: If you are using Windows Vista, open the iPod drive and click on Organise. Then, click on the Folder and Search options. Go to View and Show hidden files and folders. If you are using Windows XP, open the iPod drive and click on the Tools option. Then, choose the Folder option and then the View tab. Click on the Show hidden files and folder. Finally, click Apply.

Into the folder: Now, you should have a new folder called iPod_control. Open that and you'll see Calendar, Contacts, ipod_control, Notes, Photos and more. If you are trying to save all of your music, the ipod_control folder is the only one you need.

Almost there: Open the ipod_control folder and then open the music folder. Copy each one of these folders (should look similar to these: F00, F01 ...) onto your computer. You can do this by creating a new folder on your desktop and dragging the files into the folder.

Finally: Open iTunes and insert the new folder you created on your computer's desktop into: Library > Music. You can now sync your iPod to this new computer without losing all of your music. Don't sync your iPod until you create a folder on your new computer with all your music in it.
