IIT Roorkee partners with Coursera to launch online programs on AI and Data Science

The two programs offered by IIT-Roorkee, one on AI and ML and the other on Data Science, will be available on Coursera in early 2021.

The Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee has announced a partnership with online learning platform, Coursera. As a part of this partnership, the two organisations have launched two new certificate programs for learners around the world. While the first program is focused on Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, the other one focuses on Data Science. Both these programs will be available on Coursera in early 2021.

Talking about the programs, the six-month certificate program in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning will consist of video lectures, hands-on learning opportunities, team projects, tutorials, and workshops. This program in addition to providing the coding knowledge and mathematical knowledge necessary for building AI and ML expertise, will also teach classical ML techniques and provide hands-on programming experience with Tensorflow for model building, robust ML production, and powerful experimentation to the learners.

The certificate program in Data Science, on the other hand, will equip professionals looking to build skills in data science, machine learning, critical thinking, data collection, data visualization, and data management. The program will help develop Python and SQL programming skills necessary for a career in data analytics. It will also build knowledge on machine learning algorithms such as linear models, kNN, SVM, Trees, Random forest, and neural networks. What's interesting about this program is that it requires no prior knowledge of coding in Python, R, or SQL.

With this partnership, IIT Roorkee joins the ranks of 150 top universities including Yale, University of Michigan, Stanford and Imperial College of London that offer programs on Coursera.
