Instagram to alert you when someone takes screenshot of your Stories, but there’s already a workaround
Next time when someone takes screenshot or screen records your Stories, Instagram will send you a notification.
Facebook-owned Instagram is testing a very useful feature that will help users feel safer about their privacy. The photo-sharing platform will soon alert users when someone is recording or taking screenshot of their 'Stories'.
When somebody takes a screenshot of one of your 'Stories', a sun-shaped symbol will appear alongside their name in the Story Views section, according to The Independent.
The move, which serves as a good news to privacy-conscious users, brings Instagram Stories even more in line with Snapchat. It is worth noting that Snapchat already offers a similar feature on its platform.
The feature, however, is still in development phase but is most likely to make its way to the final version of the application sooner or later.
'Stories' automatically self-destruct after 24 hours, unless of course, one decides to add them to the 'Story Highlights' section on their profile. But, the screenshot and screen-recording function essentially allow one to make permanent copies of the post if they want to.
Prior to Stories, Instagram had rolled out the feature for private messaging.
Taking inspiration from Facebook
Last year, Facebook introduced a similar feature for on its platform. The feature allowed users to protect their profile pictures from someone else taking screenshots or downloading them on the computer. If someone does so, Facebook will alert the user.
People who opted for the feature have a blue shield border around their profile picture. Here's a video explaining how to get started with Facebook's profile picture guard feature.
The loophole
Instagram's new privacy feature, however, isn't foolproof. Some users on Twitter pointed out that the feature doesn't work when taking a screenshot on flight mode on their phone. The mode, which disables Wi-Fi and mobile radios, doesn't trigger Instagram warning, reported TheNextWeb.
Instagram is now notifying users when somebody takes a screenshot of their stories.....

Also, there's a third-party application called Story Reposter that lets you download others' Instagram Stories without letting the person who uploaded the Story know.
