Indian mobile phone brand Intex on Tuesday announced a new feature phone with 4G VoLTE support. Called the Intex Turbo+ 4G, the feature phone is priced at 1,999 and will be available in the market around Diwali. The company also launched eight 2G feature phones with prices starting at 700.

The Intex Turbo+ 4G will be competing against Reliance's JioPhone and Lava's 4G Connect M1 VoLTE feature phones. While the JioPhone costs 1,500 (deposit for three years), the Lava 4G Connect M1 is priced at 3,333.

The Intex Turbo+ comes with a 2.4-inch QVGA display. It has 512MB of RAM and 4GB of ROM. The feature phone supports expandable storage up to 32GB. It features a 2-megapixel rear camera and VGA selfie camera. The feature phone houses a 2,000mAh battery.

There is, however, no word on the operating system that will run on the phone. Intex says it is "in talks with a few leading OS developers for its 4G feature phone." The company says the feature phone will be supporting social media apps like Facebook and WhatsApp.

In comparison, the Lava 4G Connect M1 also has a 2.4-inch display, 512MB of RAM and 4GB of onboard storage. It supports expandable storage up to 32GB. While the Lava feature phone misses out on the front camera, it does have a VGA rear camera. The phone is powered by a 1,700mAh battery, and also supports Facebook Lite and a few other social media applications. It runs on the Mocordroid operating system.

The much-awaited Reliance JioPhone is yet to go on sale in India. The feature phone will be up for pre-booking by the end of this month. While Reliance is yet to reveal full details of its JioPhone, the company has so far disclosed that the phone will come with a 2.4-inch QVGA display, SD card slot, SOS button, and FM Radio. The company will add support for NFC in the phone soon to allow users to make digital payments. The highlight of the feature phone is a Siri-like digital assistant that allows users to browse the internet through voice commands.
