The first professional-grade camera system was launched by Jaunt, specialists in VR.
Codenamed 'NEO', Jaunt's new series of cameras are described by the company as promising 'fully immersive, 360-degree cinematic VR experiences'.
The system, the result of two-and-a-half years of development, consists of a wheel surrounded by wide-angle cameras. When the images taken by these cameras are combined, they produce a sphere of vision.
Jaunt do not intend to take 'NEO' directly to the market. Because of the system's bespoke nature, they plan instead on keeping production costs as low as possible by leasing it to partners from August onwards.
