The protruding camera, missing headphone jack, larger storage on the iPhone 7 are not a secret anymore. Leaks have unveiled everything there is to know about the upcoming iPhone but now there is a video to go along with the claims.

This video, obtained by the usually accurate, Nowhereelse.fr reveals that the new Apple device will be quite close to the iPhone 6s in terms of design and size. While that is a good thing for all the accessories you know, it might not be for Apple. By resembling their previous device, Apple will find it difficult to make an impact on the market as customers might not mind buying the older device instead of the newer ones.

Bigger better camera

Besides the fewer antenna bands on the back of the device, the protruding camera is the only change in design. The new camera is expected to be more feature-rich and a substantial upgrade from the older devices. It might even sport optical image stabilisation, a feature unique to the Plus version of the 6s series of iPhones.

Another leak reaffirmed by the video is the lack of a headphone jack. Something that most wished against, but Apple seems to be rooting for with a more symmetric equal sized grills on both sides of the charging port at the bottom of the iOS smartphone.

USB Type-C port?

When you get rid of the 3.5 mm headphone port, users are only left with two options to connect headphone -- Bluetooth or the only other port on the smartphone. According to the video, it seems like Apple has put in a USB Type-C port instead of the Lightning port introduced on the iPhone 5 in 2012.

As we've already seen, the USB Type-C port on LeeCo's smartphones are used for both headphones and charging/data cable. Also, Apple has already made the USB Type-C the sole connector on their new line of MacBooks and leaks suggest that it will be the only connector on the new line of MacBook Pros.

Why USB Type-C?

USB Type-C is preferred over other connectivity options for the speed of data transfer and charging. Also, Apple has been involved in the development of the port among other companies that consider it as a superior connectivity option for being reversible and versatile.

This will let Apple create one interface for all its connectors that will be compatible across iOS and MacOS. Whether it's a card reader, VGA adapter to headphones, Apple will be able to market them as an accessory for iPhones, iPads and MacBooks by adopting the USB Type-C port for charging and data transfer.
