Hollywood star Lindsay Lohan is seeking justice over a 'Grand Theft Auto V' character, Lacey Jonas, whose image, voice and clothing is said to imitate that of the 'Mean Girls' lead.
'GTA V,' which became the fastest-selling video game in history upon its September 2013 release, is part of a series well known for its satire of certain North American lifestyles.
The Lacey Jonas character, a blonde romcom actress and socialite with paparazzi issues, formed a key part of early publicity material issued by developer Rockstar Games and publisher Take Two Interactive.
Lohan's distress at the portrayal has now extended to legal proceedings filed in New York on July 2, with part of the filing linking Lohan, who used to stay at the Chateau Marmont Hotel in West Hollywood, to the game's own lavish recreation in Gentry Manor Hotel, where Lacey Jonas lives.
The 'Freaky Friday' and 'Machete' star had previously been associated with recurring character Poppy Mitchell, who had appeared in 'Grand Theft Auto IV' expansion 'The Ballad of Gay Tony,' which was set in Liberty City (read: New York City), Lohan's home town; Mitchell returned in 'GTA V' but this time as a rival to the Jonas character.
