Lumia sales will continue to fall, says Microsoft’s CFO
Microsoft revealed during an earnings call that sales of Windows Phone handsets declined 49% compared to the same period last year, managed to sell only 4.5 million handsets .

Microsoft on Thursday reported its earnings for Q2 2016, revealing its Lumia phones have witnessed a substantial low in terms of sales. Despite the launch of its flagship Lumia duo, sales of Windows Phone handsets have been reduced by almost half compared to the same period last year.
The Redmond giant managed to sell just 4.5 million handsets from October 2015 to December 2015, down by a staggering 57 percent compared to the 10.5 million handsets the company sold a year ago during the same quarter. Moreover, phone revenue declined by 53 percent which now stands at a figure of $1.2 billion. These numbers appear rather bleak given the fact that Apple just revealed it sold 74.7 million iPhones during the same period.
To add to the misery, Microsoft's chief financial officer Amy Hood also added that its phone revenue will continue to decline substantially in the coming quarter as well. Hence, it seems Microsoft's woes in the smartphone space continue, which can be attributed to a comparatively small number of third party apps on its mobile ecosystem.
