Come January and New Delhi will play host to India's first ever Twitter Conference to promote Twitter in India and raise awareness about the social networking and micro-blogging site.
The event has been organised by Twitsnaps.com, the first Indian website that allows you to share photos and videos in your Twitter stream.
"Twitter is unique because one needs to be intelligent and interesting to participate in the community," says K N Ajit Narayan, project manager for Twitsnaps.com.
Narayan feels, "It is interesting to explore how different people use it for business and political needs, branding, self-promotion and simple social-networking." He adds that, "through this conference, we want to bring together this community that is not only intelligent but also influential".
In keeping with which then, key speakers at the conference include Kanchan Gupta, associate editor of the Pioneer, Lydia Polgreen, South-Asia correspondent of The New York Times, Sidin Vadukut, managing editor of livemint.com, Simarprit Singh, founder of Twitsnaps.com, Pramit Nathan, who heads Idea to Impact, a branding consultancy, and Saad Akhtar, of the popular web comic, flyyoufools.com.
"We want to make this a 'We the Tweeple' sort of an event held at different cities across the country every month," says Simarprit Singh, the founder of Twitsnaps.com. "We also have plans to stream the conference live over the Internet on the video streaming site ustream.com."
The event will be held at the Paharpur Business Centre in Nehru Place, New Delhi, from 2 to 6 pm on January 9, 2010. Registration is free and seats are limited, so make sure to book your space on meetup.com/indiatc.
