Two new trailers posted in the wake of the Tokyo Game Show disclose more material from upcoming tactical espionage action game 'Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain.'
The game's opening sequence is a nine-minute-long cinematic cut-scene, quite in keeping with series tradition, and a chance for the game's Fox Engine to impress with its souped-up graphics and lavish soundscape.
Narratively speaking, the game begins in a rain-drenched prison camp, a blacksite in Cuba, under cover of darkness.
Kiefer Sutherland voices the main character, a special operative who is dispatched to retrieve two young detainees, both of whom had appeared in previous game 'Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker.'
And an ominous new character called Skull Face also makes an appearance, his visage badly scarred by burns, and wielding authority over the camp.
The introduction dovetails with the game's first mission, duly posted by publisher Konmai, while a third video is dubbed the TGS 2013 Special Mission, a Cuban infiltration that takes place during daylight hours.
Both gameplay videos, around 13 minutes-long apiece, come with Japanese voice and text, having been shown at the Tokyo Game Show the previous week.
'Metal Gear Solid V' is due 2014 on current and next generation PlayStation and Xbox consoles.
