Mitron on Monday announced that it has inked a music licensing deal with Zee Music. This partnership will enable users of the Mitron app to use songs from Zee Music's vast catalogue of songs in the app.

Mitron announced that this is the first-ever deal for Mitron with a music company and it's in line with Mitron's efforts to provide a robust and versatile music library for creators to showcase their creativity.

To mark the association, Mitron has launched a challenge in the app called ‘Mummy Kassam' challenge wherein users can groove or create videos on the newly released song from the Varun Dhawan and Sara Ali Khan starrer ‘Coolie No 1'. They will also be able to do so in the near future with other titles such as Ranveer Singh starrer ‘World Cup ‘83' and Parineeti Chopra's ‘The Girl on Train,' in the coming days.

“We are delighted that Mitron users will now have access to the huge catalogue of Zee Music library including blockbusters from Bollywood. We aim to provide a seamless experience to our millions of content creators to showcase their talent and make the most interesting content,” Shivank Agarwal, CEO & Co-founder, Mitron TV said on the occasion.

Notably, this is not the first time that a homegrown social media app has signed a music licensing deal with a music label in the country. ShareChat, which is another social media platform that grew popular in the country after the government banned TikTok, has inked deals with a host of music providers, which includes Saregama, Times Music, and T-Series among others.

Separately, Mitron app last month launched ‘Atmanirbhar' apps on the Google Play Store. The aim of these apps is to give users access to most India-based apps that can be used for various purposes. The list includes apps pertaining to business, shopping, games, news and entertainment among others.
