The iPad optimized application of the popular VoIP service Skype, released August 2, proved popular with iPad users around the world, topping the charts for the most downloaded free iPad application over the last seven days in the USA, UK, Japan and a number of other countries. The application allows users to make free voice and video calls to other Skype users or low cost calls from a Skype account to a phone number.
