New Trek game coming stardate April 23, 2013

The straightforwardly named "Star Trek: The Video Game," starring the new-style Kirk and Spock, is to arrive on April 23.

The straightforwardly named 'Star Trek: The Video Game,' starring the new-style Kirk and Spock, is to arrive on April 23.

The Xbox 360, PC and PlayStation 3 game's release date places it a month ahead of 'Star Trek: Into Darkness' at the cinema.

Publisher Namco Bandai and developer Digital Extremes -- which is known for 'The Darkness II' in 2012 and the 'BioShock 2' multiplayer mode in 2010 -- also confirmed that award-winning writer Marianne Krawczyk would be behind the video game's storyline; Krawczyk has been recognized for her work on the 'God of War' series.
