iPhones usually dominate the market share every year and for 2021, it was no different! In the list of the top 10 smartphones that sold the most in 2021, it was Apple's iPhone that took seven spots, leaving only three spots to the budget Android phones. And in the vast majority of iPhones, it was 2020's iPhone 12 that was the superstar here, dominating the market with a share of 2.9 percent.

In fact, Counterpoint's report shows that the iPhone 12 was dominant in this list with its share of 2.9 percent. Next to it, the iPhone 12 Pro max came at the second place with a share of 2.2 percent. The iPhone 13, which only had three months left in 2021 after its launch, has a good show with a share of 2.1 percent share. This goes on to show that the iPhone 13 could have a good year in 2022 as well, considering the iPhone 13 could see massive price drops.

iPhone 12 dominates, iPhone 13 close behind

At the fourth position, it was the iPhone 12 Pro that sat with a market share of 2.1 percent. The iPhone 11 rounded up the top-5 with its share of 2 percent overall.

In the sixth place sat Samsung's affordable Galaxy A12 with a similar share of 2 percent. The Redmi 9A comes next with a share of 1.9 percent, while the Redmi 9 comes in at the 10th sport with a share of 1.1 percent.

However, eight position was taken up by the iPhone SE 2020 with a share of 1.6 percent while the iPhone 13 Pro Max came at the ninth spot with a share of 1.3 percent.

This comes as no surprise, given that the iPhone 12 was the most popular model throughout the year 2021. Towards the latter part of the year, the iPhone 12 was available with a massive price cut during the Flipkart and Amazon sales. This is regardless of the fact that the iPhone 12 was not the most technologically advanced smartphone. Weirdly, there's no presence of the more affordable iPhone 12 Mini and iPhone 13 Mini.

With the new iPhone SE 2022 now in the market, we can expect to see the new model taking up some of the spots in this top-10 list.
