Now launch Periscope directly from Twitter
While Periscope was an early bird at brining live streaming to most smartphone users, Facebook’s push to the Live feature has taken away quite some attention from the Twitter companion.
Twitter accounts can now start streaming from their app by tapping the compose button and selecting "Live" to jump into the periscope app and start streaming.
"Since launch, there have been over 100 million broadcasts created on Periscope. Whenever a broadcast is shared on Twitter, you tap the link to open the Periscope app. Today, we're replacing those links with the broadcast itself, autoplaying right within the Tweet. And when you tap the video, it goes full-screen and shows Periscope comments and hearts from other viewers. You don't need the Periscope app or even a Periscope account," said Periscope.
The feature was being rolled out to Twitter for iOS in January, but now making its way to everyone. While Periscope was an early bird at brining live streaming to most smartphone users, Facebook's push to the Live feature has taken away quite some attention from the Twitter companion.
Taking every opportunity to pedal the Live feature on Facebook, Mark Zuckerberg has called astronauts on the International Space Station and more recently, departed from the townhall format to host a Q&A.
