A scientist from Netherlands has genetically engineered a hamburger — made from billions of stem cells. Mark Post, head of physiology at Maastricht University in the Netherlands, grew synthetic hamburger from bovine stem cells, which his team turned into thin strips of muscle tissue before mincing it into a patty.

Post said he was hoping that the cost of cultured meat will come down in the future. After conducting an informal tasting, he gave the synthetic tissue his thumbs up, saying that it tasted reasonably good and he was planning to add just salt and pepper before serving it, perhaps at an event in London this summer.
