US President Barack Obama's Facebook page switched to the social network's new timeline format, giving details of his life including his first job at an ice cream parlor.

The first date on the timeline is August 4, 1961, his birthday.

It is accompanied with the words 'Made in the USA' and includes a photo of his birth certificate, emblazoned on a coffee mug, an apparent jab at the controversy over his birthplace and nationality.

The new timeline format offers other details of Obama's life.

His first job was at the ice-cream shop Baskin-Robbins in 1978, he played tennis and basketball and was a choir singer at a school in Hawaii.

He met his future wife Michelle Robinson at a law firm in Chicago in 1989 and married her on October 3, 1992.

Obama joined his current job as US President in 2009 and likes to take lots of pictures with his wife and kids, according to his timeline.

Others posts include photos with voters, that of Michelle Obama giving a speech at the Democratic National Convention in 2008, the president addressing the United Nations

General Assembly and most recently that of Obama singing 'Let's Stay Together' at a fund-raiser in New York.

Facebook's new timeline feature displays a user's comments and details of his life posted on the social networking site in a chronological manner.

Obama's Facebook page is managed by his 2012 presidential campaign team and has more than 25.4 million fans.
