Chinese handset-maker OnePlus on Thursday launched a new affordable smartphone - OnePlus X - at a price of 16,999 in partnership with e-commerce player Amazon.in.

"Today's smartphone user strives to find the perfect balance of style and performance. The OnePlus X is a design-centric device - chic and powerful enough to fit any lifestyle," said OnePlus chief executive Pete Lau.

The new phone will come with a compact 5-inch display, a 13-megapixel rear camera combined with f/2.2 aperture and 0.2-second autofocus with phase detection autofocus (PDAF).

"We are also pleased to announce that it will be our first locally-manufactured smartphone," said OnePlus India general manager Vikas Agarwal.

The phone will draw its power from a Snapdragon 801 processor with Adreno 330 graphics processing unit (GPU) and 3GB RAM. It also supports two nano-SIMs, out of which one slot provides optional expandable storage to 128GB.

The company also launched a limited ceramic edition of the phone available only with a ceramic-specific invite starting November 24 at 22,999.
