On Friday, the changed profile picture of PM Modi Twitter can be seen. The reason behind this big change was that India had just recorded a major achievement- it has administered over 100 crore COVID-19 vaccinations so far. In fact, during the nationwide COVID-19 vaccination drive, some 100.59 crore vaccine doses have been administered.

The profile picture of PM Modi read, "Congratulations India-100 crore COVID-19 vaccine doses administered."

India attained the milestone of administering 100 crore COVID-19 vaccine doses on Thursday morning itself.

PM Modi had on Thursday expressed gratitude towards COVID-19 vaccine manufacturers, healthcare workers and all others involved in the vaccination drive.

Several world leaders congratulated India on this achievement.

Meanwhile, India reported 15,786 fresh COVID-19 infections and 231 deaths in the last 24 hours, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare informed on Friday.

Another major announcement that PM Modi made earlier on Twitter was that he would address the nation at 10 AM on Friday. "PM @narendramodi will address the nation at 10 AM today," tweeted PMO India.

In his address to the nation, PM Modi said India has succeeded in its Covid-19 campaign. He praised 130 crore citizens and said that they are behind it. “It's their success. I congratulate all”.

“While we are being lauded by countries across the world, most will miss where we started- where we were dependent on others,” he said.

PM Modi address to the nation: Highlights

While hailing the crossing of the 100-crore vaccine doses milestone, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said India's vaccination programme was science-born, science-driven and science-based. 

"It is a matter of pride for us that India's vaccination programme has been science-born, science-driven and science-based," Modi said.

From the development of vaccines to inoculation, science and science-based approach has been involved in all processes, he asserted.

Taking everyone along, the country started the campaign of 'Sabko Vaccine, Muft Vaccine', he noted.

However, PM Modi also warned everyone that they should keep following Covid-19 protocols during the festival season.
