2009 will be a great year for gizmo lovers. HT City looks at the five new technologies that will take communications and entertainment to the next level

Google Android Phones
The Net giant entered the mobile phone segment with the first-ever open-source software platform for mobile phones — the Android. Google's Linux-based platform can be used by all mobile companies willing to develop upon it.
iPod Touch Tablet PC

The iPod Touch, which is essentially the iPhone without its call-making functionality, in all likelihood will graduate to a tablet PC later in the year. Imagine a nine-inch iPod, which you could also use to play games, read e-books and browse the Internet — it's a Mac user's dream come true.

3D GPS Satnav
This year, expect GPS devices to give you a 3D picture of buildings, roads and local topography.

Nintendo Dsi
The DSi has touch-screen, cameras, 256MB of internal flash memory and an SD card slot to store data. And it can play games!

Sony OLED TV
The Organic Light Emitting Diode TV has less than 8-10 mm thickness, uses little power and has life-like picture clarity.
