Shown at last year's CES as Project Fiona, Razer's gaming tablet with twin controllers is back as the high-powered Razer Edge, packing Windows 8, an Intel i5 or i7 processor, and an entry level price tag of $999.

Already known for its range of high performance mice, keyboards, headsets and gamepads, Razer intends the Edge to represent the best of tablet, PC and console functionality with a 10-inch display and desktop-grade components.

Although its screen is a touch smaller the Microsoft Surface Pro, the Edge is considerably more powerful in the graphics department, a result of using a discrete graphics processor rather than the on-chip solutions currently in vogue for tablets and laptops.

Razer is planning for retail distribution in North America and Asia Pacific regions, while its web store allows visitors to sign up for notification once the Edge is made available for purchase.

A mouse and keyboard dock is planned to arrive by September, and Razer has a bespoke gamepad controller and extended battery ready to go, while the Edge's HDMI port means that players can plug it in to a larger screen if they so wish.
