Razer, which specializes in gaming systems and peripherals, has announced the Junglecat, its first controller designed specifically for gaming on the iPhone. The device will be available in July, priced at $99.99 in the US.
For its first foray into the mobile accessories market, Razer chose to focus on the iOS market. The new Junglecat gamepad consists of an iPhone cover (20mm thick) with a sliding panel that allows users to access a series of special controls (AXBY buttons, a D-pad and two bumpers) at any time. When the Junglecat controls are in use, touchscreen commands are automatically deactivated.
The Razer Junglecat works through a dedicated iOS app, which allows users to set the functions and sensitivity level of the different buttons. Users can save up to 20 customized profiles to easily access the best settings for different types of games.
The app will also keep mobile gamers in the loop when new titles optimized for the Junglecat controller are released. The app will be available for download on the App Store once the Junglecat goes on sale next month.
