Livemint speculates that the reason for this move is the lawsuit they faced from Ericsson last year. They have also introduced the Snapdragon variant in China according to a post on their original Weibo account.
For now, you can sign up for the Explorer program and Xiaomi will choose 100 users to try out the Redmi Note 3 before launching the device in the country.
The Redmi Note 3 is available in two variants in China.
The base model (Yuan 899) has 16 GB internal storage and 2 GB of RAM while the pricer one (Yuan 1099) has 32 GB inbuilt storage and 3GB of RAM. There is no option to add an SD card but does support dual-SIM.
The phones are available in grey, silver and gold like the iPhone 5s or 6. The phone runs MIUI 7 and stays powered by a 4,000 mAh battery that charges to 50% in an hour.
