Reliance Jio’s Monsoon Hungama Offer is now available for customers. Under the new scheme, one can exchange their older feature phone for a new JioPhone for 501. Jio has also introduced special recharge plans under the new offer.

Reliance Jio on Friday launched its 'Monsoon Hungama Offer' under which customers can exchange their older feature phone for a new JioPhone for 501. Jio said that the 501 price is also 100% refundable security deposit and can be refunded after three years.

Jio's Monsoon Hungama Offer is available for feature phones of any brand. Note that the scheme is valid for the current generation of Reliance JioPhone, not the JioPhone 2, which is slated to go on sale on August 15.

Reliance JioPhone exchange offer: How to avail, eligibility criteria
Customers can visit any Reliance Jio outlet or partner outlets to replace their older feature phone. Also, the offer can be availed at any retail point for old 2G/3G/4G (nonVOLTE) phones. The older feature phone for exchange should be in working condition and with charger. There should not be any damage or missing part or broken or burnt parts. You can swap the phones that were sold in the last 3.5 years (from January 1, 2015 onwards).

"JioPhone or any CDMA or operator locked devices WILL NOT be accepted for exchange. Apart from Battery & Charger, no other accessories (like headphone etc.) are required for exchange," according to the terms and conditions.

Customers will get a new Jio SIM along with the new smart feature phone. Customers can also port from their current network to Jio to avail Monsoon Hungama exchange offer.

Things that you need to carry while going to exchange the old feature phone include the old mobile phone in working condition, battery and charger of old phone, Aadhaar number, and for MNP, you need to carry the new MNP Jio number.

Jio Monsoon Hungama offer: Special recharge plans
Jio subscribers will be eligible for unlimited and voice calls for six months on paying 594 at the time of activation. Additionally, JioPhone users under the Monsoon Hungama exchange offer will also get a special exchange bonus of 6GB data voucher, worth 101. This will take the total data benefits to 90 GB over six months.

"There are currently 2 JioPhone plans available: 49 and 153. The 49 plan is a kind of trial plan with 1GB monthly data, whereas our highest selling plan 153 provides 1.5GB data/day. We realised that there are some users who may want lesser data and therefore must get the plan at a lower price. Hence we are introducing 99 with unlimited free voice, 0.5GB data/day and 300 SMS for 28 days. This will reduce the monthly spends straight away by nearly 50%," said a Reliance Jio spokesperson.

Reliance JioPhone
Reliance JioPhone is currently available for 1,500 (An interest-free refundable security deposit). Earlier this month Jio announced the availability of popular applications like WhatsApp, Facebook, and YouTube on the JioPhone. KaiOS, which received major funding from Google, is working to bring more popular apps like Google Maps on the smart feature phone.

Technical specifications of Reliance JioPhone include 2.4inch TFT screen, 1GHz dual-core processor, 512MB of RAM, and 4GB ROM. It also has a 2-megapixel rear camera and 0.3-megapixel front camera. Other important features of JioPhone include Bluetooth 4.1, microUSB, NFC, and 2,000mAh battery.
