Capcom has announced a remake of the cult video game's first edition. The revamped 'Resident Evil' will be released in early 2015 for last and next-gen consoles and PC.
Introduced in 1996, the 'Resident Evil' franchise has sold over 61 million copies to date. The title was first remastered for the GameCube in 2002, giving fans improved graphics, a darker atmosphere and a more challenging game. Later released on the Wii, this version is currently available exclusively to owners of Nintendo consoles.
But the new remake will bring the game to the PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One and PC when it is released in Japan on November 27. The title will then be available for download worldwide early next year.
This latest edition of the classic game, created by Shinji Miami and his developers, will be in 1080p on the next-gen consoles (or 720p on the PS3 and Xbox 360) with 30fps.
Players will be able to choose between the classic 4:3 format and a new 16:9 one, and between a new control system, which is more directly mapped to the control stick, and the traditional system (for purists).
For the uninitiated, the first title in the 'Resident Evil' series is set in Raccoon City, a small town in the American Midwest where scientists are performing experiments on humans...who are turning into zombies.
