Revealed: Words blocked on Chinese Twitter

Picky Chinese censors have reportedly blocked the use of a list of words on Weibo, their version of Twitter.

Picky Chinese censors have reportedly blocked the use of a list of words on Weibo, their version of Twitter.

According to The Sun, a blog called blockedonweibo. tumblr.com gives reveals that at least 400 terms or words have been banned.

Among the words banned are- obituary, any coloured cats, hoobastank (name of an American rock band), warlord (to counter government insurgency), Islam, aphrodisiac, plainclothes,dew point, shuffle and mimi (an oboe-like instrument used in Chinese folk music, but also street lingo for women''s breasts).
