Samsung is set to unveiled their latest Galaxy Note 7 smartphone with a curved screen and iris-recognition tech in India.
World's largest smartphone maker is following up the Galaxy S7 device with the 5.7-inch screen for those looking for a bigger screen. The Note 7 also has an iris-recognition tech that lets you unlock the phone by just staring at it.
The South Korean company is betting on the big-screen of the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 to boost the momentum created by other devices launched by them in 2016. While they may have spaced out the dates of their launched to avoid cannibalising the sales of their own devices, Apple's upcoming iPhone launch in September is likely steal some thunder.
The Note 7 has a design similar to the Galaxy S series, but offers a larger screen and functions involving a pen accessory — stylus. The grip on the device has been improved to make the massive phone easy to use even with one hand.
The price is yet to be released but the expected to make its way to stores on August 19.
Despite being a successor to Galaxy Note 5, Samsung skipped the number 6 to bring uniformity to the nomenclature of their smartphone series — Galaxy S — whose latest device has the number 7.
The Note 7's iris scanner allows users to unlock the device through a scan of their eyes — the first such application for on a Samsung smartphone.
Samsung also expected to unveiled a new version of its Gear VR virtual reality headset with upgraded features such as improved viewing angles.
