SHOCKING LAYOFFS! Elon Musk sacks massive number of Indian Twitter employees

In a horror mass layoff order, Elon Musk has sacked a huge number of Indian Twitter employees across verticals such as communication, marketing, sales, engineering.

Racist slurs were tweeted referencing Gadde’s Indian heritage, with words like “curry” used to target the Twitter lawyer. A shocking Twitter India layoff plan has been set in motion! Elon Musk has ordered sacking of multiple Twitter India teams. (REUTERS)

Just days after reports surfaced indicating that Elon Musk, the chief executive officer of Twitter, will be conducting massive job cuts across all verticals in Twitter, a shocking number of layoffs have taken place in India. Twitter India employees in multiple verticals including communication, marketing, sales, engineering and others have been sacked. According to reports, entire teams have been terminated in this mass cull. Earlier, Elon Musk had closed a number of Twitter offices across the globe in preparation for the layoffs.

According to reports by News18, the entire Twitter India's communications team has been sacked. Large number of employees have also been let go of in Twitter India's marketing and sales teams.

These layoffs are part of a global job cut planned and executed by the new owner and current CEO Elon Musk. He earlier spoke about making the microblogging platform more cost efficient and economically viable. Right after taking charge of the company, Musk fired then-CEO Parag Agrawal, legal head Vijaya Gadde and some other vertical heads. 

Today, November 4, Musk sent out an email that said, “In an effort to place Twitter on a healthy path, we will go through the difficult process of reducing our global workforce on Friday”. 

Twitter further said that its offices will be temporarily closed and all badge access will be suspended in order "to help ensure the safety of each employee as well as Twitter systems and customer data". Also, Twitter employees who will not be affected by the layoffs too will be notified via their work email address. While the employees who have been laid off will be notified with next steps to their personal email addresses.

“Lay-off has started. Some of my colleagues have received email notification regarding this," reported PTI while quoting a Twitter India employee.
