A digital camera with multiple remote controls

Users of the NEX-5T can download a variety of compatible applications from the PlayMemories Camera Apps platform, including the Smart Remote Control App, which allows users to control the camera from a smartphone or tablet. The Add-on Flickr app enables instant image uploads to the famous photo sharing website.

The camera's most notable feature, however, is its NFC chip, which enables wireless connectivity with compatible Android smartphones and tablets. The technology allows users not only to quickly and easily transfer images to these terminals but also to use their device as a remote control for the camera in any situation.

Sony has designed the NEX-5T for photographers looking for a relatively compact, light and easy-to-use model with performances similar to those of an SLR. The new camera will be available from September 2013 for around US$700 with a 16-50mm pancake zoom lens (or $550 just for the body).
