Soon your smartphone would be able to help you plan your Metro trip anywhere in Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR).

The facility — an offline application that is regularly updated — is expected to be available on smartphones within six months.

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) had floated a tender to develop a smartphone app, which would provide information on fares, stations, distance, parking facilities and interchange facilities, among others.

Deadline for accepting bids for the ₹ 3.65 lakh contract was completed last Monday.

"We have received bids and these are being evaluated," said Anuj Dayal, DMRC spokesperson. "Once operational, people from outside Delhi will benefit from the smartphone app."

The US, the UK and Germany already have such apps.
