Spotify gets iOS 14 widget, available in two sizes
Spotify's iOS 14 widget will display top five recently played songs, artists, albums, or podcast covers.
iOS 14 lets users add third-party widgets on the iPhone's home screen. Apple already has widgets for the native iPhone apps, and other apps like Google have also introduced widgets. The latest to join is Spotify which now has a widget on iOS 14 and iPadOS 14 as well.
The Spotify widget on iOS 14 works similarly to Apple Music's through which users can easily start playing songs on their iPhone. There are two small and medium sized Spotify widgets on iOS 14. The medium Spotify widget will display up to five recently played artists, playlists, albums, or podcast covers, Spotify told The Verge. As for the small Spotify widget, it will only show the last played song on Spotify.
The Spotify widget on iOS 14 can be added through the following steps.
1. Long press your home screen to go into jiggle mode.
2. Tap on the ‘+' icon on the top left corner of the screen.
3. Scroll down and select the Spotify widget.
4. Choose between the small and medium Spotify widgets.
5. You can move the widgets and place it on any empty part of the screen.
The Spotify widget isn't available just yet but it should arrive soon. You can also try updating the Spotify app to the latest version if you haven't received it yet. Google also rolled out its Search widgets for iOS 14. This one too comes in two sizes where the bigger one has tools for Google Lens, incognito mode and voice search.
