It was a day full of revelations in the world of technology today. On one hand, Microsoft finally announced the launch date of its much-awaited Windows 11 operating system. On the other hand, WhatsApp launched the second iteration of its monthly safety report wherein it announced that it blocked nearly three million accounts in India in the span of the past 1.5 months. In addition to that BSNL introduced a 1,498 prepaid recharge plan in India. So, here's what created a buzz in the tech world today:

Microsoft announces Windows 11 launch date

Microsoft announced Windows 10 successor, Windows 11 desktop operating system at a special event back in June this year. Today the company announced that Windows 11 will start to become available on October 5. On this day, the free upgrade to Windows 11 will begin rolling out to eligible Windows 10 PCs and PCs that come pre-loaded with Windows 11 will start to become available for purchase.

WhatsApp releases the second iteration of its monthly safety report

WhatsApp released the second iteration of its Monthly Safety Report wherein the company detailed that it had blocked over 3 million accounts in India for a span of 46 days between June 16 and July 31.

Telegram clocks over 1 billion downloads

Telegram has amassed one billion downloads globally, according to a report that states Indian users make up 22 percent of the total lifetime downloads. The app crossed the 1 billion mark on Friday, according to the SensorTower report. It gained 214.7 million installations in the first half of this year, which represents a whopping 61 percent year-on-year growth when compared to the first half of 2020, where it gained 133 million installs.

BSNL launches 1,498 prepaid recharge plan

The state-owned Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) today launched a recharge plan worth 1,498 for its prepaid users in India. This plan offers 2GB of data per day for a span of 365 days. It does not come with calling and SMS benefits.
