Lookout Security has uncovered a security flaw in Google Glass related to the capture of corrupted QR codes. The alert was passed on to Google, whose technicians have corrected the problem ahead of the commercial launch of the augmented-reality glasses, scheduled for 2014.

The data protection company pointed out that when trying to connect to a site or online service by photographing a counterfeit QR code, a Google Glass wearer risked falling into the trap of a WiFi network controlled by hackers. This could give the pirates access to the data on the Google Glass device, or even allow hackers to control the device remotely through a simple malware program.
