'Call of Duty' creator Vince Zampella stepped onto the stage at E3's Microsoft and Electronic Arts conferences on June 10, introducing extended gameplay videos from his new studio's first game, 'Titanfall.'

The multiplayer action game builds on 'Call of Duty' principles, drawing on the sort of sci-fi setting expected from a 'Halo' game, fast-paced agility seen in Sony's 'PlanetSide 2' and EA's 'Mirror's Edge,' and mechanized combat of upcoming arena battler 'Hawken.'

As revealed by leaked copies of Game Informer magazine prior to the weekend, Zampella confirmed that 'Titanfall' would retain exclusivity to Microsoft's platforms when it launches in spring 2014 -- Xbox One, Xbox 360 and Windows PCs.

The release timing is astute, allowing players time to acquire an Xbox One should they wish to play on Microsoft's November console.

Sony, for its part, spent part of its presentation welcoming 'Destiny,' another sci-fi, multiplatform affair, this time from Bungie, the creators of Microsoft's 'Halo' franchise.
