Today’s Google Doodle is to remind everyone to “wear a mask, save lives”. This is the one of the most important steps to take during this pandemic other than staying indoors, and of course washing your hands.

Google has every letter wearing a mask in the Doodle and even maintaining distance as a way to follow social distancing. Tapping on the Google Doodle will open up a new page for Covid-19 prevention. The basic steps listed out are to wear a mask (face cover), wash your hands and keep a safe distance. It also has a detailed list of things to do as precaution, and what to do if you’re feeling unwell.

The page has links below to the World Health Organisation’s prevention and tips for Covid-19. Depending on your location, Google will show a dashboard with the latest number of cases. It also has the number of cases globally which is currently 18.4 million confirmed. There have been 11 million recovered cases and over 600,000 deaths due to Covid-19. In India there are 1.86 million confirmed cases, 1.23 million recovered and more than 38,000 death cases.

Google has been integrating Covid-19 tools with its products. It updated Search, Assistant and Maps to show nearby Covid-19 testing centres. Google also partnered with Apple to develop Covid-19 contact tracing tech. It has already rolled out the API for Covid-19 exposure notifications that can be implemented by health care centres. It’s also working on a Bluetooth-based contact tracing platform that will be enabled on both Android and iOS devices.
