1. Stick Cricket (Free/$2.99)

Stick Cricket is arguably the most popular cricket gaming app on the App Store. Stick Cricket brings real teams, and real players right onto your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch's display.

The app itself is free, and for that you'll get the 5 over All Star Slog game mode, World Domination levels 1-3, in-game statistics including your run rate and the number of boundaries that you hit, and high score charts with OpenFeint. You'll also be able to show off your top scores to your buddies via Facebook and Twitter.

If you are hungry for more then there is an in-app upgrade option for $2.99 as well. For this, you'll get 10-over slogfests, all 14 levels of World Domination and a two-player option where you can play against anyone.

Best feature: 'Lean back' mode - Switch the app to lean back mode, place your iPhone/iPod Touch on your table and follow live scores throughout a busy work day. 3. Cricket WorldCup Fever Deluxe ($2.99)

Developed by Indiagames Ltd, this is a complete cricket playing app in its best form with full HD graphics. Choose your favorite team from the 14 teams available, 6 stadiums and 3 difficulty modes of your choice such as the World Cup Tournament Mode or Power Play Mode.

While batting, choose shots between loft-on or loft-off and then swipe in the desired direction of shot to hit the ball. The swiping does require a bit of a practice to get it right at the right time, just like when playing cricket in real. While balling, you can choose between spin, fast and medium pace bowling options, with desired speed and spin to each bowl bowled.

The game, overall, does have great graphics but somehow all the players look the same with only different uniform colors. The touch and play seems so much easier in Stick Cricket as compared to this app. But with ball-by-ball and scorecard analyses and with the actual ball following cameras all around, this app does have its moments of fame. Unlock the 50+ achievements and then show them off to the world by sharing them at the Game Centre.

4. CricBuzz - Cricket scores and news (Free)

Cricbuzz is one of the best cricket apps for the iPhone, iPod and iPad. It has every piece of information you need to know and eliminates the need to sit in front of the television. That's because of the audio commentary. The app also shares access to the executive editorials of cricbuzz. You also get match alerts every 5 overs or every fall of wicket via push notification service for the subscribed series/matches. A few other features include comprehensive player profiles and series archives to do some post analysis, if you are into that.

As you must have noticed, there are only 2 cricket role playing apps and the rest 3 are Cricket live updates and score sharing apps.
