TRAI to hold open house on net neutrality at PHD Chamber of Commerce: As the net neutrality debate heats up in India, the PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry, which is a multi-state body that promotes industry, trade and entrepreneurship. Fiery debate on Net Neutrality and Free Basics is undoubtedly expected this afternoon as TRAI holds an open house discussion on differential pricing for data services. In a notification, TRAI had said "interested stakeholders are invited to participate" in open house discussion on its consultation paper on 'Differential Prices for Data Services'.

TRAI asks broadband service providers to be more transparent: The country's telecom watchdog, Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI), has released another consultation paper, this time on broadband services. TRAI in its draft direction has asked service providers for delivering broadband services in a transparent manner by providing adequate information to its consumers. TRAI describes a broadband as a data connection that supports interactive services including internet access and has the capabilities like minimum download speed of 512 kbps to an individual subscriber from the point of presence (POP) of the service provider.

Google Chrome set to get safer, better, faster, stronger: Google's own browser Chrome is all set to pick up pace as it has been injected with a new data compression algorithm which makes websites load faster than usual. The compression algorithm, called Brotli, will likely launch in the next stable Chrome release, Google Web performance engineer Ilya Grigorik posted on Google+. According to the internet giant, Brotli will be between 20 and 26% more efficient than its current compression algorithm, Zopfli. Chrome on mobile devices will likely see other benefits too, such as lower data transfer fees and reduced battery use.

Apple launches 'Music Memos' for music aficionados: Musicians around the world can revel as Apple launched a new app called Music Memos. Apple claims that the app has been designed to help musicians quickly jot down, organise, and develop ideas. It also lets users record any musical instrument through the iPhone's built-in microphone, then name, tag, and rate it to start building a library of ideas. The app can also analyse rhythm and chords of acoustic guitar and piano recordings and even pair them with drums and a bass line. It also offers up a basic notation displaying the chords played.

Titan launches its own smartwatch: The world's fifth largest watchmaker, Titan in partnership with HP, released its first smartwatch called Juxt at a starting price of 15,995. The timepiece features a subtle honeycomb dial, 3D indices and a leather strap. This watch can be paired with smart phones having either Android 4.4 or iOS 8.1 and above operating system.
