Microblogging site Twitter is testing a new feature that will let users post tweets together with friends, family or colleagues. Dubbed as CoTweets, the new feature is currently rolling out for selected Twitter users in the U.S., Canada, and South Korea. Twitter spokesperson Joseph J. Nunez told The Verge, “We're continuing to explore new ways for people to collaborate on Twitter. We're testing CoTweets for a limited time to learn how people and brands may use this feature to grow and reach new audiences.” Here's all you need to know about Twitter's new CoTweets feature

What's the Twitter CoTweets feature and how does it work?

As the name says itself, CoTweets feature will let Twitter users collaborate with each other on tweets. With the new feature, two Twitter users will be able to post a tweet together and their tweets will be shared to both of their profiles and follower timelines. A CoTweet has both the authors' profile pictures and usernames in the header. It helps authors share the spotlight and unlock opportunities to engage audiences.

How to post a CoTweet?

Draft a tweet just like the usual one and then select the CoTweet icon to invite another user to co-author the post. Do remember that the co-author should be following you and have a public account. You can add only one Co-author at the moment.

These CoTweets can be retweeted, quoted, tweeted, and commented on by users who can see the tweet. But it cannot be promoted, and cannot be pinned by anyone except the original author.

Users who don't want to collaborate can decline the CoTweet invitation and even block other users from sending them CoTweet invites in the future. Those who accepted an invitation but changed their mind later, can even revoke the invitation. If someone does so, the CoTweet will turn back to a usual Tweet.

Before getting too excited, do note that the feature is still in testing and may be or may not be rolled out for all users in future.
