Twitter is testing a desktop web version for Spaces which is currently available on Andorid and iOS.

Twitter is working on a desktop web version for Spaces, its Clubhouse rival. Twitter Spaces is available on Android and iOS but with select users being able to host a Space. Twitter is currently testing how Spaces will look on the desktop web app.

Twitter was spotted testing preview cards of Spaces for the desktop web app. A screenshot of this test was shared by Jane Manchun Wong. The test shows that you can join a Twitter Space from the web app. Twitter has actually been working on this for quite some time as a Spaces developer had posted designs of the web version of Twitter Spaces.

Based on the design, the Twitter Spaces card will look quite the same as it does on mobile. It will show the list of participants including the host, speakers and listeners, and an option to “Join this space”. The Twitter Spaces card on mobile can be shrinked down so you can continue using your phone while listening to the audio room. It looks like Twitter Spaces on the web app will work in a similar way too. But it’s interesting to see how Twitter will show Spaces on the web app since it doesn’t display Fleets yet.

The design is still early, and more details are expected to be revealed soon. It looks like Twitter is really pushing to expand Spaces to more users. Clubhouse is currently limited to iOS only although it has still amassed global popularity. But having a wider availability could give Twitter Spaces an edge over Clubhouse.
