Vivo Y51L launched in India for ₹11,980
Vivo launches its 4G-ready Y51L smartphone in India featuring a 5-inch display and a Snapdragon 410 quad-core processor.
Its been quite a day as we've already witnessed launches from Honor, Oppo and BlackBerry. Joining the fray is Chinese manufacturer Vivo with the launch of its Vivo Y51L smartphone in India priced at ₹11,980.
The smartphone features a 5-inch display with a resolution of 960 x 540 pixels. Powering the smartphone is a Snapdragon 410 quad-core processor bundled with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of in-built storage expandable upto 128GB via microSD. Optics on the smartphone include an 8-megapixel rear camera along with a 5-megapixel front facing camera. It runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop out-of-the-box bundled with the company's FuntouchOS 2.5 UI.
In terms of connectivity, the device supports 4G LTE, along with GPS, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, USB OTG, and microUSB. Juicing up the device is a 2,350mAh battery which the company claims can last one whole day once fully charged.
The company justified the launch of the phone saying that it was targeted at tech savvy and the budget segment of users in the country.
"The Indian smartphone market is tech savvy and price sensitive. The affordable segment is the growth driver, as the young generation today looks for a phone which is best in features, beautiful in design and is priced competitively. Last year, we witnessed huge sales and positive demand for products in the budget range across markets, which boosted us to launch the Y51L. The new launch will further strengthen our hold on the market and help us establish ourselves among our consumers," said Alex Feng, CEO at Vivo India.
