Wipro names Capgemini’s Thierry Delaporte as CEO
Delaporte will take over from Abidali Z Neemuchwala, who announced in January he would leave the post after four turbulent years.
India's Wipro Ltd. named Thierry Delaporte chief executive officer and managing director, recruiting its new leader from rival Capgemini SE.
As India's technology services segment goes through a complete transformation with rapid digitization, Wipro's new chief executive will be expected to steer it out of the pandemic and reclaim its high-growth days.
Wipro, controlled by Indian billionaire Azim Premji, ditched its software services revenue guidance for the first time ever in April -- joining businesses around the world struggling to assess the fallout from the coronavirus pandemic.
Delaporte was the chief operating officer of Capgemini Group and a member of its group executive board until recently, according to a statement from Wipro to Indian stock exchanges. He had held several leadership positions over more than two decades at the company.
