Already available on iOS, Android and Windows Phone, Xbox's second-screen enhancement app has now been deployed specifically for the second generation Kindle Fire and Kindle HD devices.
SmartGlass allows tablet and smartphone owners to control their Xbox 360 -- just as iOS devices can integrate with the Apple TV, and third-party apps can turn smartphones and tablets into remote controllers.
But perhaps SmartGlass's hook is its ability to select and display additional content that complements whatever's sent to the Xbox 360's main screen, whether it has to do with a supported TV show, film, game, song or sporting event.
Nintendo and PlayStation also have second screen strategies by way of the portable PlayStation Vita and upcoming PlayStation 4 home console, and the Nintendo Wii U's tablet-style gamepad.
