Xiaomi announces Smart Door Lock Pro in China, here’s why it is special

The Smart Door Lock Pro by Xiaomi is also expected to come with lock picking and alarming feature.

Building more on its smart IOT products, Xiaomi has announced a new smart door lock with face recognition in China. Called as Smart Door Lock Pro, the device was showcased on the company’s Weibo account post (via GizChina). The full-fledged unveiling is supposed to take place on November 4. Although the teaser poster doesn’t show the entire lock in all its glory but shows most part of it, giving us a fair idea of what to expect.

As seen in the image the new Smart Door Lock Pro comes with two cameras that will be used to scan the face of the person and will probably stream it to the device of the user who is inside. The device is also seen with a button below the cameras that has a bell icon on it. So the person can come, press the bell button for a buzz, get his/her face scanned before the person inside opens the door.

The Smart Door Lock Pro by Xiaomi is also expected to come with lock picking and alarming feature. 

Xiaomi’s Q3 of 2020 might not have been the best according to several reports as it slipped down below Samsung in the shipment numbers as per Counterpoint. Alongside, the firm is said to be working on a new Redmi Note 9 series smartphone that may come with a 108-megapixel Samsung ISOCELL camera sensor. The handset could launch by later this month.

The firm is also rumoured to bring a foldable phone soon. A code spotted in Xiaomi’s MIUI by XDA Developers indicated that the groundwork is being laid for a foldable device that has the code name - Cetus. Folding capabilities of this Cetus are mentioned numerous times with respect to the device display.
