(Xiaomi) ![Author Photo](https://images.hindustantimes.com/tech/static/revamp/images/png/HTTech-new-circle-logo.png) ### By HT CORRESPONDENT Xiaomi vice-president Manu Kumar Jain on Wednesday announced that the Mi MIX 2 smartphone will launch in India on October 10. The Mi MIX 2 is the successor to last year's Mi MIX smartphone, which started the edge-to-edge display trend in the smartphone industry. The Mi MIX 2 is already available in China for RMB 3,299 (₹32,400 approximately). The company is yet to disclose details of the phone's price in India. Significantly, this is the first time Xiaomi is launching a MIX smartphone in India. The Mi MIX 2 retains the edge-to-edge screen ratio but comes with a few changes over its predecessor. While the original Mi MIX came with a 6.4-inch display, the Mi MIX 2 sports a relatively smaller 5.99-inch display. The screen ratio has also changed to 18:9 aspect ratio from 17:9. The screen resolution on the Mi MIX 2 is full HD+ (2160 x 1080 pixels) with 403ppi pixel density. The new smartphone is said to be 11.5% lighter and 11.9% slimmer than the predecessor. Under the hood, the Mi MIX 2 runs Qualcomm's top-end Snapdragon 835 octa-core processor clocked at 2.45GHz, coupled with 6GB of RAM. The smartphone comes in 128GB and 256GB storage variants. On the front is a 5-megapixel camera with built-in Beautify mode, for smoother selfies. The Xiaomi Mi MIX 2 comes with 4G VoLTE, Bluetooth 5.0 and USB Type-C. It is powered by a 3,400mAh battery with quick charge support. It runs on Android Nougat-based MIUI 9 out-of-the-box. The smartphone has a fingerprint sensor on the back. In comparison, Mi MIX, launched last year, comes with 4GB of RAM, Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 processor, 16-megapixel rear camera, and a 4,400mAh battery.
