Xiaomi Mi5 will reportedly be launched in four variants on February 24
Xiaomi’s Senior VP Wanqiang Li has announced February 24 as the date for the company’s Spring Conference, where it is expected to launch the much anticipated Mi 5 flagship.
Chinese manufacturer Xiaomi is set to launch the much awaited Mi 5 flagship on February 24 in China. Xiaomi's Senior VP Liwan Jiang has confirmed in a Weibo post that the company will be holding a Spring Conference on February 24 where it is expected to launch the smartphone. A report by GizmoChina also claims that the smartphone will come in four variants, two of them featuring all-metal bodies while the other two would feature glass bodies.
The first metal variant will reportedly come with 3GB of RAM bundled with 32GB of in-built storage, while the second one is tipped to get 4GB of RAM bundled with 64GB of storage. The 32GB variant is expected to get a price tag of CNY 2,199 and the 64GB metal variant is expected to be priced at CNY 2,599, which translates to ₹22,500 and ₹27,000 respectively. While one of the glass variants is expected to get 4GB of RAM bundled with 32GB of storage while other one is expected to pack 64GB of storage with 4GB of RAM. The glass variants of Mi5 are expected to get a price tag of CNY 2,799 and CNY 3,099, which translates to ₹29,000 and ₹32,000 in Indian currency.
In terms of specifications, the Mi5 is said to pack a 5.2-inch full HD or QHD display, a 16MP rear camera and a 13MP front facing camera, a 3600mAh battery with Quick Charge 3.0 technology. The Mi5 is expected to run Android 6.0 Marshmallow out-of-the-box with the company's MIUI 7 skin atop.
The device is also expected to pack the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor, which uses the latest 14nm FinFET technology. Samsung's flagship smartphones the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge also feature 14nm Exynos processors along with the MacBook and MacBook Pro which also get 14nm Intel processors.
